Persol is the symbol of an extraordinary Italian story that began in Turin in 1917, when the optician and photographer Giuseppe Ratti invented the Protector, avant-garde glasses designed to offer the utmost in comfort, protection, and vision for aviators and sports pilots. The Persol brand – an acronym for “per il sole” (for the sun) – immediately forged the identity it has maintained ever since: exceptional quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. The Arrow is the exclusive hinge decorated with an arrow inspired by the swords of ancient warriors.

The model 649, the brand's first true icon, was designed in 1957.

In the 1960s, Persol glasses appeared in some of the most iconic films of Italian cinema. Persol's style and lens quality became famous worldwide.

Even today, every specimen is produced at the historic headquarters in Turin.
